Intel announced a line of new processors based on the old Pentium architecture.

Intel Atoms primarily target the ultra-mobile PC and smart phones markets, in effect competing with AMD's Geode and Texas Instrument's ARM-based OMAP, as well as Marvell's ARM-based XScale proceessors.

Note that XScale processors were designed and built by Intel, but were sold to Marvell in 2006. Note also that Intel Atoms can run x86 programs natively.

 

2008-February-5

The infamous Storm botnet has been eclipsed.

Mega-D, a botnet that promotes male sexual enhancement pills, single-handedly accounts for 32% of all spam in circulation.

It is possible that Mega-D and other spam botnets are evolutions of the original Storm botnet, which accounted for 20% of all spams at its height.
