TM Net has always been a haven for spammers, as a result more and more mail servers simply reject any emails from TM Net or Streamyx. Now things are going to get worse, because TM Net is finally taking action, in the worst way possible.

From today onward, you can no longer send emails from any dial-up or dynamic Streamyx connections; the only mail servers you can connect to are TM Net's own mail servers. As a work-around, TM Net's has put in place a cumbersome proxy server to reroute your traffic.

Please refer to TM Net mail proxy configuration guide for details on how to configure your email client. You may email help@tm.com.my or call 100 and select "Internet Services" for further assistance.

Intel lanuched new Core 2 processors based on its 45-nanometer etching process. Codenamed Pentyn, this is the technology that will carry Intel to 2009, at which point the 65 nanometer processor will be completely phased out.

In contrast, rival AMD is still suffering from indigestion of ATI, and will only start to migrate to 45 nanomters in 2008.

Microsoft had intended to pull Windows XP off the shelves on 31st January 2008, instead it has now decided to extended the availability of Windows XP to 30th June 2008.

Vista had acquired a reputation of being a resource hog, perform poorly and incompatible with many customized applications. In comparison, Windows XP SP2 has proven to be very stable and runs well on older hardware. As a result, most users are postponing adopting Windows Vista until SP1 is available, reputed to run faster and more secured.

What is puzzling is Apple's unusual quietness in not taking advantage of this vacuum, as its OS runs well on Intel's platform, it's now in a far better position to increase its market share.

In s surprise move, AMD is planning to release a triple-core desktop processor.

AMD claims that triple-core processors are appealing because their quad-core peers are too powerful for the average desktop. Market share data indicates that quad-core processors have captured less than 2 per cent of the desktop market. Although the fact that Intel sells it quad-core processors at a premium may partially explain the low take up rate.

While Intel stitches together two dual-core processors to make one quad-core processor; AMD manufactures genuine quad-core processors. Therein lies the truth about the soon-to-be-released triple-core version: it is the same Quad-core processor with one core disabled. This will increase yield in the initial ramp up period.

Microsoft also quietly released details of the upcoming Windows XP Service Pack 3 (XPSP3) Beta, final version of XPSP3 will be completed in the second quarter of 2008, and is positioned as the end-of-life rollout for Windows XP.

Due to a server crash, Microsoft's Windows Genuine Advantage could not validate some users over the weekend. This resulted in some legitimate users being branded as software pirates.

Windows Vista, the latest Microsoft Operating System, automatically runs in "reduced functionality" mode, and features such as the Aero interface were toggled off by the OS.

The hardware problem had been resolved. Microsoft requests all users who were affected to revalidate their operating system.
