Fujitsu and Toshiba are the latest notebbok PC makers to announce
the recall of Sony-made lithium-ion batteries used in some of their
product lines, joining Lenovo, Apple, Dell, and bringing the worldwide
number of recalls to over 7.7 million.
The products affected include Fujitsu's LifeBook, Toshiba's Satellite,
Toshiba's DynaBook.
Hewlett-Packard Co. stated Monday it will not be issuing a recall.
The company said it reviewed its products with Sony batteries and

other companies seem to face.

cells during production, Sony said, causing the batteries to overhead.

Microsoft announced it plans to overhaul its anti-piracy scheme
for Windows Vista. Called Software Protection Platform (SPP), the
OS will immediately disable some of its features if it believes
it's not licensed. If a legitimate copy is not bought within 30
days, the OS will only be able to boot into Windows Safe Mode, and
restrict the user to just Internet Explorer for one hour, presumably
giving the user one last time to buy Windows Vista online.

performance than top-of-the-line AMD's dual core processor.
The Core 2 marks the end of the "Pentium" brand, whose
latest incarnation, Pentium D, will eventually be phased out.
