There is a steady, significant and definite degradation of power line quality in and around the Southern Johor region, possibly caused by the recent flash flood.

Expect frequent and intermittent blackouts within the next few weeks. Sensitive electronic equipments should be taken off the power grid if not in-used to minimize the risk of being damaged by power fluctuation.

Microsoft has released Vista SP1. Although this update will only be available via Windows Update in April, you can perform immediate manual download and install. This is in fact what we recommend since Service Pack 1 significantly improves Vista performance and stability.

Note that while Microsoft claimed that it would take 1 to 2 hours to install Vista SP1, you should realisticly expect that to be 1 to 2 hours only if you have a state-of-the-art machine.

Network: 2008-Feb-26

Interconnect between TM Net and other Malaysian ISPs were down since 1:00PM, the problem was resolved at around 6:00PM.

This connection problem persisted since 11th of February, and has resulted in massive emails delivery failure. To date, emails to Yahoo remains unreliable, as are most emails to and from servers physically located in the United States. Ironically, spams from Europe remain in the pink of health.

It almost seems as if TM Net is experimenting with some sort of traffic filter to sniff out potentially "unwanted" traffic. With this pattern of Internet interruptions, all Malaysian Internet users should expect intermittent connection problems at least until mid-March.

Network: 2008-Feb-25

Interconnect between TM Net and other Malaysian ISPs were down since 3:45PM, the problem was resolved, once again, at around 6:00PM.

Network: 2008-Feb-11

TM Net backbone has broken down since 8:30AM. Connection between TM Net network and other Malaysian ISP networks had been severed.

The problem was rectified by 3:00PM, but intermittent problems persisted for all outbound traffic from Malaysia.

Vulnerability : 2008-Jan-3

We have received increasing reports of Internet Explorer 6 and 7 freezing due to Skype.

If you have Skype installed, please goto Tools->Internet Options, click on the Programs tab, then the Manage add-ons button, and disable the two Skype plug-ins.

Disabling the Skype plug-ins does not seem to affect the Skype client, while enhancing the stability of IE.
